I've got a half dozen shows on the books for this year. Currently in the six week home stretch of my prepping for the National Fish Decoy Association show in Perham, MN. It's a favorite for me as it's always great to see my fellow fish decoy carvers from around the country.

I was extremely honored to be the inaugural guest for the new "makers' segment on MeatEaters Bent podcast this week. Chatting with hosts Hayden and Joe about spearing and my fish decoys.

I post most of my fish decoy and outdoors related work on my Instagram page instagram.com/ryan_ebert_art/ so give me a follow there to see what I've been working on.
My interview with @thewisconsinsportsman podcast dropped today. We cover all things darkhouse spearing, my creative businesses, and my passion for making fish decoys.

Photo: Me at the last National Fish Decoy Association show in Perham, MN. Which I'm very much looking forward to happening again in April.
A recently finished logo design I did for a fellow fish decoy carver.

Happy Small Business Saturday and thanks everyone for your tremendous support of all my creative outlets this year!
I added this new sturgeon spearing design to my Etsy shop this week. The hoodies are going fast with some sizes already sold out. Same goes for the recently released pike spearing hoodies.

Lots of different nature themed items for the whole family for you to do your holiday shopping. Apparel, coloring books, paintable cutouts, fish carvings, nature photography notecard cards and more.
I'm still working through all my great fall photography, videography, and design projects but the cooler temps have me looking forward to winter. Been designing and printing (at Brindle Ink) some new spearing apparel. First couple new items just hit my Etsy shop.

Winter is always a mixed bag creatively for me. I try to do a bit more fish decoy carving, like these trout I just finished up. I've been working on a new website for my friends at C.C. Moo medically adaptive clothing. I'm also designing a poster for a butcher shop in Maryland and doing weekly photoshoots for a construction company.
Portrait work will be picking back up soon now that the snow is gone. My event and show bookings obviously continue to be affected by the pandemic but I'm hopeful for the second half of the year to be back to "normal". Last but certainly not least I have some big news in the works that I hope to be able to officially share soon.
Extremely honored for my fish decoys to get a shoutout by Joe Cermele this morning on Facebook and Instagram. Joe is a tremendous voice in the fishing world. He’s the Senior Fishing Editor for MeatEater, former fishing editor for Field & Stream and has written several books. He's also the co-host of the MeatEater's BENT podcast with Miles Nolte.
I tend to post more of my photography and design work here but if your interested in my fish decoy work, give me a follow on Instagram @ryan_ebert_art
One of my bigger summer projects was carving these five decoys for a lake house up north. Very happy with how they all turned out. For size reference the crappie (bottom left) is 10 inches long. Each one is carved from cedar, fully scaled, carefully weighted to swim, and airbrush/hand painted. I'm looking forward to the winter months and having a bit more time to carve.
Starting August 1st, you'll be able to find many of my handmade goods available at This & That at The Mill in Genesee Depot, WI. My booth will be stocked with creative family craft items like my wood cutouts, and coloring books I've been making. I'll also have some of my nature photography notecards and a couple fish decoys and jig sticks there.
Designed some spearing related t-shirts. Excited to see the final products after my friends at High Rev Graphics screen print them for me. Will be adding a store to the website with these shirts, decoys, and other available artwork.
Spent the morning as the host volunteer at the Farmers Market Kids Art Tent. Made forty four wood fish cutouts for kids to paint, which is the exact number of children that stopped by. Had many examples of fish decoys, both completed and in progress, for people to check out too. Was a great morning sharing my passion with the community and discussing the art that is part of pike and sturgeon spearing.
Had a great time at The National Fish Decoy Associations 22nd Annual The Gathering. Amazed by how the quality level, of what my fellow carvers create, goes up another notch every year. Really tough competition, as always. Managed to place in three classes and be the lone Wisconsinite representing in the top placings for the contests.
Also excited to be elected to the Board of Director for the NFDA. Looking forward to bringing fresh ideas to the association.
